Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) Grants for fieldwork - Call for applicants for upcoming deadline – DEADLINE 23 NOVEMBER 2021
The Society has a number of grants for postgraduates, early-career and senior researchers to support geographical fieldwork and research. The first deadline is 23 November, with later grants in January 2022. There’s full information online at www.rgs.org/Grants.

The EGU General Assembly 2022 will return as an in-person event to Vienna, Austria, from 3–8 April 2022, once again bringing together geoscientists for a meeting covering all disciplines of the Earth, planetary, and space sciences. In order to ensure the widest possible participation by geoscientists from all over the world, EGU22 will have a hybrid format allowing virtual participation in specific sessions for those who cannot, or prefer not to, travel to Vienna.
Student applications are open now for the Juneau Icefield Research Program 2022 field season. Application materials are due December 31 for priority consideration. Applications submitted after the due date will be considered on a rolling basis.

Read more ...The Executive Organizing Committee for the Arctic Observing Summit (AOS) 2022 is seeking community input, in the form of brief statements, that will help guide discussions during the AOS Thematic Working Group sessions. The theme for this hybrid Summit, convening 30 March - 1 April 2022, in Tromsø, Norway and online, is Arctic observing at the intersection of health, understanding, and resilience.

The winter school will teach the modern techniques of snow measurements. The school consists of a field training with state-of-the-art snow measurement techniques as well as theoretical lessons. Participants will learn about how to characterize snow cover, what are the fundamental processes responsible for snow evolution, and how does snow interact with the environment.

An upcoming NSF-funded workshop has been announced to assess the current state of biological collections from Antarctica held in the United States and identify the value of and need for a repository for Antarctic organisms.
The workshop, which is scheduled from February 2-4, 2022, for both in-person participants (as well as others who would prefer access via Zoom) at the National Museum of Natural History (Smithsonian Institution) in Washington D.C., will explore potential benefits and challenges of such a biological repository.
