Polar Radar Science and Technology Conference

In February, 2022 (exact dates TBD), the Climate Change Institute at the University of Maine will host a multi-day virtual conference to discuss ground-penetrating radar, airborne radar, related technologies, and software use and needs within the Polar community.

Call for Community Input: Arctic Observing Summit 2022

The Executive Organizing Committee for the Arctic Observing Summit (AOS) 2022 is seeking community input, in the form of brief statements, that will help guide discussions during the AOS Thematic Working Group sessions. The theme for this hybrid Summit, convening 30 March - 1 April 2022, in Tromsø, Norway and online, is Arctic observing at the intersection of health, understanding, and resilience.

7th EGU Snow Science Winter School - Application deadline 10 November

We would like to make you aware of the unique opportunity to participate in the 7th EGU Snow Science Winter School. 13-19 February 2022 Sodankylä, Finland

The winter school will teach the modern techniques of snow measurements. The school consists of a field training with state-of-the-art snow measurement techniques as well as theoretical lessons. Participants will learn about how to characterize snow cover, what are the fundamental processes responsible for snow evolution, and how does snow interact with the environment.

NSF-funded workshop and survey: Antarctic biological collections in the U.S.

nsf logoAn upcoming NSF-funded workshop has been announced to assess the current state of biological collections from Antarctica held in the United States and identify the value of and need for a repository for Antarctic organisms.

The workshop, which is scheduled from February 2-4, 2022, for both in-person participants (as well as others who would prefer access via Zoom) at the National Museum of Natural History (Smithsonian Institution) in Washington D.C., will explore potential benefits and challenges of such a biological repository.

Reminder: IARPC Call for Applications Interagency Arctic Research Policy Committee Positions

IARPC LogoThe Interagency Arctic Research Policy Committee (IARPC) is charged with enhancing the scientific monitoring of and research in the Arctic, and on increasing collaboration between federal agencies, Arctic researchers, and Arctic residents. IARPC is working to improve communication and collaboration between federal agencies and Indigenous communities in the Arctic. To support this goal, IARPC is recruiting for two new positions.
