For APECS International Polar Week September 2019 the National Committees organized the following events:
Science Communication Workshop
Young researchers were invited to the APECS Germany workshop about science communication held on September 25, 3-5pm at Bremen University. Panel speakers offered their insights and experiences, and explain how to effectively reach a broader audience and squeeze science communication outreach into our schedules. The workshop itself was free and was held in cooperation with the ICYMARE 2019 young marine researchers conference (Sept. 24-27). It took place prior to the icebreaker of the annual SPP Antarctic Research coordination meeting (Sept. 25-27).

Polar Film Fest
APECS Germany participatied in the Polar Film Festival organized by USAPECS by screening short movies on 25 September from 5:30pm at the Alfred Wegener Institute in Potsdam, Germany.
Local social catch-up
A local social catch-up for APECS Oceania members in Hobart (or visiting Hobart at the time) took place on 21st September. This catch-up was over ice skating in celebration of Polar We
A second catch-up in Melbourne on 23 September took place: "Hi Melbournites (or visitors)! It's been a long time since we have had any APECS events in Melbourne - so to celebrate Polar Week 2019 we will have a local catch up so that we can see old faces and get to know some new ones.

BOTES Bottom of the Earth Society teamed up with APECS Oceania for a polar week quiz on 27 September in Tasmania!
Street census "Why Polar Bears don´t eat Penguins?"
A street census that took place at University of Coimbra on 24 September 2019. The objective is to talk with students, researchers, tourists and general population in order to inform and explain what our work as young researchers is.
Pint of History - The Frozen Desert
A Pint of History on Antarctica, featuring Hanne Nielsen (APECS Oceania/UTAS), Professor Elizabeth Leane (UTAS) and others was on 19 September in Hobart. Here, you could hear fascinating stories from the frozen continent, for example on books of Antarctic expeditioners or Nukey Poo, the first and only nuclear reactor in Antarctica!
MASS on "Human perspectives of Antarctica
As part of the international Polar Week, APECS Oceania presented a MASS (Marine and Antarctic Seminar Series) on our impact on the icy continent. Our speakers covered three perspectives starting with marine ecosystem conservation and management, then looked at the human footprint on the continent and finally gave an overview of 60 years Antarctic treaty. You could hear about the human side of Antarctica and learn more about APECS Oceania! The event was on 24 September in Hobart, Australia.

Explorers Club Polar Film Festival, NZ edition
New Zealand edition of the Explorers Club (NYC) annual Polar Film Fest took place on 25 September 2019 in Wellington.
DataTas seminar "Antarctic Mapping in R"
APECS Oceania teamed up with DataTas to provide a workshop on Antarctic Mapping in R. The event was held on 2 October in Hobart.

APECS SA Photo calenders & postcards
During March Polar Week APECCSA asked to submit your best Antarctic and sub-Antarctic photos and did now design 2020 calendars and postcards from the winning submissions.
