The Permafrost Carbon Network (PCN) invites contributions of data for a synthesis aimed at improving the understanding of fire effects on permafrost thermal regimes across the pan-Arctic. This synthesis arose from a breakout session at the PCN meeting before the American Geophysical Union last December.

The PCN is soliciting raw data contributions of active layer thickness measured in paired burned and unburned sites to examine how fire impacts permafrost across the Arctic and subarctic. Although active layer thickness measurements are preferred, paired permafrost thaw depth measurements (e.g., thaw depth probing before end of season peak thaw) can also be submitted. Data contributions should consist of raw data (e.g., single measurements) and not aggregated data (e.g., mean site-level values).

Data can be submitted online via this Google Form. Once the form is submitted, the submitter will receive a personalized Google sheet to enter their data for inclusion in the synthesis. Those included in the analysis will have the opportunity for co-authorship according to the authorship guidelines

Form submission deadline for indicating intent to submit data: 30 October 2020
Data submission deadline: 20 December 2020
