This event is hosted by the Association of Polar Early Career Scientists (APECS) and is part of APECS Germany’s “Let’s Talk” - series. It is organised by the Antarctica InSync Early Career Coordination Group and supported by the Antarctica InSync coordination team.
Antarctica InSync is a global coordination effort aimed at connecting and aligning Antarctic and Southern Ocean research activities across disciplines and nations. While the initiative is ramping up and gaining increased visibility, more interest to engage is developing across the scientific community and in particular amongst early career researchers, but due to the complexity of the international structure and the broad scope contribution avenues remain challenging to understand for many. With this event we want to help the (early career) community understand the idea behind the initiative, lower engagement barriers, and clarify how individuals can get involved. The webinar will provide an overview of the goals and structure of Antarctica InSync with a particular focus on opportunities to engage and actively participate in the initiative. Early Career Researchers and senior scientists involved in Antarctica InSync will share their experiences and explain how they contribute to the initiative. The Antarctica InSync Early Career Coordination Group will present ongoing and upcoming opportunities to engage in their activities. The seminar will include interactive components for the audience to engage directly with the speakers and organisers, with ample time for questions and discussion, as well as to connect with other participants.
The event is particularly aimed towards the early career community, but everyone interested in Antarctica InSync and Antarctic research coordination is warmly welcome to join.
