Are you doing research in Antarctica and traveling through Punta Arenas or Ushuaia this campaign season?
APECS Spain would like to create a contact network that allows young researchers (as well as senior researchers or base/vessel personnel) participating in the various Antarctic campaigns to, quite literally, break the ice and get to know each other during their transit trip.

Recognizing that many scientists and campaign personnel often pass each other in these gateway cities without realizing they are part of the same mission, APECS Spain aims to turn these chance encounters into meaningful connections. The committee is inviting all Antarctic campaign participants to complete a short form with their travel dates and locations, allowing organizers to link those who will be in the same place at the same time.

The initiative is open to early-career researchers, senior scientists, and base or vessel staff. National Committees and polar institutions are encouraged to share the form widely to reach as many travelers as possible.
By connecting people on their way south, APECS Spain hopes to strengthen communication, encourage collaboration, and build a more cohesive international Antarctic research community.
