Dear APECS Members,
As your new Executive Committee, we’d like to start by thanking everyone for the trust you’ve placed in us to lead APECS this year. We’re excited to take on this role and support the APECS community over the next 12 months. Most importantly, we want to thank you - our members - because it’s your involvement that keeps APECS thriving as a global hub for Early Career Researchers (ECRs) in polar, alpine, and cryosphere regions.
We’re focused on making APECS a welcoming space for all ECRs. We aim to help you build networks, develop skills, and find new opportunities to grow, both professionally and personally.
This term, one of our major initiatives will be the Polar Early Career World Summit. This event will be a key opportunity to unite ECRs from around the globe, bringing together as many voices as possible for a meeting focused on the future of polar research. We aim to amplify the perspectives and concerns of ECRs in these critical areas and ensure they are heard at the highest levels. And with an eye on the future, we’ll start preparing for the next APECS Strategic Plan and the 5th International Polar Year in 2032-33.
Of course, we can’t do this alone. With the collective efforts of the APECS community - our International Directorate, Council, Project Groups, National Committees, Mentors, and especially you, our members - this will be another great year for APECS!
