The Association of Polar Early Career Scientists (APECS) is organizing a workshop on 18 June 2021 at the International Congress of Arctic Social Sciences (ICASS X), entitled “Polar Early Career Scholars: Ensuring the Continuity of Intergenerational Knowledge”.
In this workshop, you will have the opportunity to learn about the future of Arctic-focused education, from primary education to innovative STEM fieldwork, multimedia studies to traditional on-the-land programs. We welcome a distinguished group of panelists to share their cutting edge knowledge of how diverse educators, elders, youth, researchers, and early career scientists can work together to preserve and advance holistic and valuable understandings of the Arctic, its people, and nature.
Our panelists include Diane Hirshberg, Professor of Education Policy at the Institute of Social and Economic Research, University of Alaska Anchorage, Natalia Prokopeva, Leading Expert at the International Arctic School, Yakutsk, Russia, Liisa Holmberg, Film Commissioner at the International Sámi Film Institute, Norway, Anthony Speca, Adjunct Professor at Trent University, Canada and Managing Director of the Læra Institute for Circumpolar Education, and Janet Warburton, Program manager of PolarTrec program at the Arctic Research Consortium of the United States (ARCUS).
