The Centre for Climate Dynamics (http://skd.bccr.no) is a new research and competence centre for the advancement of climate science. They have received funding from the Norwegian Ministry of Education and Research for the next 10 years, which will build on the expertise of the Bjerknes Centre for Climate Research, University of Bergen, the Institute of Marine Research, Uni Research Ltd and the Nansen Environmental and Remote Sensing Center.   The Centre for Climate Dynamics will conduct research to enhance the understanding of the variability and changes in the climate.  They plan to develop state-of-the art modeling tools to ensure the provision of global and regional climate scenarios for the North Atlantic and the Arctic, Europe and selected developing countries. At the international level, the Centre will contribute to major climate research initiatives, such as the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). At the same time, there will be some benefits for APECS members since Centre for Climate Dynamics will focus on training and recruitment of the next generation of climate scientists working in the High Latitudes and particularly in the Arctic!
