Join the APECS Council leadership team as Representative Coordinator

As a RC, you will coordinate the announcement and application process for ECR opportunities and APECS Representative positions amongst partner organizations of APECS. Note that this position requires a degree of commitment (around 1 hour/week), so please consider if you have the time to fulfil this role before applying.

Antarctic Science Bursary 2024: tips + Q&A for potential applicants

In coordination with the Association of Polar Early Career Scientists (APECS), Antarctic Science Ltd. is running a webinar to help potential applicants of 2024 Antarctic Science International Bursary. This bursary runs every year and is for up to £6000 to support PhD or early career researchers to extend the scope of an existing research project. APECS delegation at COP28

 
Earlier this December, APECS' UN Climate Change Conference Project Group sent its first ever delegation to the United Nations' annual climate change summit, COP28, in Dubai. The delegates — Ryan O'Hara, Simone Weichenrieder, Anamika Poyil, and Veda Athalye — advocated for the cryosphere in the conference's climate negotiations and attended sessions and talks to better understand the relationship between climate change and climate policy and polar research and preservation.

APECS at the One Planet - Polar Summit

APECS was represented at the One Planet - Polar Summit in Paris, France between the 8th and 10th of November. This event gathered scientists, policy makers and civil society to discuss recent findings of the impacts of climate change on the polar and alpine regions and to discuss knowledge gaps that should be prioritized and supported by governments.

APECS is seeking two National Committee Coordinators

APECS members — here is your chance to join the APECS Council Leadership!

APECS is looking for two additional National Committee Coordinators

  • 1 Full-term position for the rest of the current  term (until 30 September 2024)
  • 1 Temporary position for two months (February and March 2024)

As a NCC, you will provide a link between the NC representatives on the Council, the Executive Committee, and the International Directorate. You will maintain communication with NC representatives and help renew partnership agreements between NCs and APECS. Note that this position requires a degree of commitment (around 1 hour/week), so please consider if you have the time to fulfil this role before applying.
