June is Social Sciences: Highlighting Polar Social Sciences in APECS’s Discipline of the Month
Poster Presentation
IPY From Knowledge to Action Conference 2012
Montréal, Canada
22-27 April 2012
Recognizing the need to provide additional resources to early career social scientists, APECS developed a new webpage providing information ranging from Social Sciences organizations and journals to senior mentors and a collection of video interviews and webinars. Early career researchers also have the opportunity to introduce their research topics, blogs and recent publications. Apart from these online resources, a variety of activities were organized as part of the June Social Sciences month including a career development workshop and a panel discussion at the 7th International Congress for Arctic Social Sciences. A Virtual Poster Session towards the end of the month included, apart from several presentations by APECS members working on social sciences research projects in both the Arctic and
Antarctic, two feature keynote presentations on social sciences activities by the International Arctic Science Committee (IASC) and the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR).
