The Arctic and Antarctic Research French National Committee (CNFRA) is a non-profit organisation. The CNFRA objectives are :
- to promote French scientific studies and research in Arctic, Sub-Arctic, Antarctic and Sub-Antarctic regions ;
- to represent France in the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR : Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research) and in the SCAR Working Groups ;
- to further international co-operation and support French research in international programmes ;
- to propose a forum for the development of scientific programmes ;
- contribute in communicating and informing on scientific research undertaken in polar and sub-polar regions.
