O objetivo deste trabalho é verificar a existência de assimetria flutuante em Pygoscelis papua nas ilhas Elefante e Rei George, Antártica e caracterizar seus níveis como uma forma de avaliar a qualidade do ambiente. Foram tomadas as medidas de comprimento de ambos os lados das aletas e dos pés e calculada a assimetria flutuante para cada indivíduo. Através dos testes estatísticos verificou-se a não ocorrência de assimetria flutuante. A não existência de assimetria aponta, portanto, para a ausência de um nível de estresse ambiental que pudesse causar distúrbios e alterar a homeostase do desenvolvimento nessa espécie na Antártica.
