Polar Outreach Catalogue

There is a pressing need for more Northern and Inuit content in Nunavut educational programs. Learning in Nunavut through our Earth will help address this need while also providing opportunities to improve local capacity to undertake community-based research. To encourage learning about the environment and traditional knowledge, this project created a multimedia, interactive online atlas that combines photos, videos, and audio recordings. This project will help preserve, educate and increase accessibility to local traditional ecological knowledge by digitizing and storing it in a web-based atlas. In particular, this project is aimed at engaging students and examines such topics as sea ice change, and its impact on travel and survival skills through polar-based lesson plans.
