National Committees and other partners contributed to the APECS International Polar Week September 2021 with the following events:
APECS Argentina Antarctic General Knowledge Quiz
General knowledge about Antarctica and its main topics were tested to a general audience public through a daily quiz in the APECS Argentina Social Networks. The scope was to share and make people know a bit more about Antarctica and polar regions regarding our southernmost city is the gate of the white continent.
Antarctic Colombian Flags 2022
APECS Colombia, the Colombian Antarctic Program, and The Colombian Ocean Commission organized the event "Colombian Antarctic Flags 2021-2022", a pedagogical outreach activity to generate Antarctic Identity based on the Colombian research and relation between the tropics with the White Continent.
Colombian children as future Antarctic expeditionary and researchers, gave us their vision of the frozen continent, through the creation of their flags. This work was complemented by our Colombian researchers, who brought with them the messages of this student community in the framework of their research activities of the VIII Colombian Scientific Expedition to Antarctica, southern summer 2021-2022.
The activity was developed in person during the Polar Week at the San José Sur Oriental School with the participation of the Rodrigo de Triana Technical Institute School through Teams Platform.
APECS Italy Polar Quizzes
To celebrate this year's APECS Polar Week 2022, the Italian committee organized a series of polar quizzes in which you can test your knowledge and challenge your friends. A new quiz on a specific topic was published every day from 20 to 24 March and was available on the website: https://www.apecsitaly.it/
APECSSA Science Behind the Scenes - Photo Exhibition
We all understand the gruelling conditions and the long hours it takes to collect and analyse data, but we very rarely see it. We see the glamorous shots, the final products and plots, but not what it takes to get to that point. APECS South Africa (APECSSA) invited you to submit a photo to showcase #behindthescenesofscience & #howAPECSSAdoscience. Individuals and research groups could showcase the lesser-known side of their research to the South African public by submitting photos that reveal behind the scenes of polar science, whether it be preparing for fieldwork, laboratory analyses or processing data at your computer. We wanted to showcase and celebrate the hard work and less glamorous side of our science with the community. Photos were featured on the various APECSSA social media platforms during Polar Week, 21 – 26 March!

APECS Switzerland Member Meeting
APECS Switzerland invited for the annual APECS Switzerland member meeting during the International Polar Week! There were presentations from our members covering a range of research topics and they. finished with short discussions and a fun activity to get to know each other.

USAPECS was hosting an 'AMA' (Ask-Me-Anything) on reddit, with a few early career researchers answering questions from the reddit community.
