The Navigating the New Arctic Community Office (NNA-CO) is hosting a photo contest to showcase the beauty of the Arctic and its peoples, along with all the work that goes into NNA research.

Organizers invite photos of fieldwork, research stations and sites, communities and life in the Arctic (with permissions), wildlife, natural landscapes, and cultural landscapes. There will be prizes for the top three photo submissions, as well as for seven honorable mentions. The NNA-CO plans to use the submitted photos for outreach, engagement, and communications about NNA.

The Polar Science Early Career Community Office (PSECCO) announces a new PSECCO community Slack channel. Polar early career scientists can use the channel to make informal connections; ask questions about polar science, papers, or data; plan meet-ups at conferences; and simply engage with other polar early career scientists.

The Alaska Fellows Program (AFP) is now accepting applications for the 2022/23 program year. There are multiple nine-month positions available with locations in Anchorage, Fairbanks, Juneau, and Sitka, Alaska.

The Alaska Fellows Program is a fall-to-spring residential fellowship program that nurtures the next generation of Alaska-based leaders by pairing talented young people with strong communities and professional mentors. Fellows serve with a dynamic non-profit or public-sector organization for the fellowship term and receive modest living stipends and housing. Fellows live communally, work closely with professional mentors, and make lasting contributions to their host community.

The Arctic Centre invites registration for their Winter School. The theme of the Winter School is Our Connection with a Fast-Changing Arctic, and will take place 16-20 January 2023 in Groningen, the Netherlands.

Hosted by the Arctic Centre, the Winter School is aimed at (inter-) national civil servants and policy makers, politicians, managers, financial experts, (young) academics, and PhD students who are looking for a nuanced and wide-ranging understanding of the Arctic.

The Interagency Arctic Research Policy Committee (IARPC) announces their upcoming IARPC Program Manager Chat webinar, Early Career Opportunities in Arctic Research. This webinar will take place 23 June 2022 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. AKDT.

Join IARPC for a federal program manager chat about research, funding, internship, employment, and other opportunities available for early career researchers in Arctic sciences.

Research Theme 1 of Ant-ICON is looking to recruit a Early-to-Mid-Career-Researcher (EMCR) to join the Steering Committee. The EMCR should ideally have a background broadly in biodiversity research, with a focus relevant to one or more of the key questions outlined in the Ant-ICON Science and Implementation plan. As the Theme 1 EMCR, you would work with the Research Theme 1 leads to engage the Ant-ICON community on Research Theme 1 related topics (collaboration opportunities, designing workshops and seminars), as well as the wider Steering Committee to help carry out Ant-ICON’s mandate. The Steering Committee has monthly meetings, and communicates weekly via email and Slack. The Research Theme 1 team may also meet monthly as well depending on their ongoing activities.
