Have you ever been asked to review a submission to a scientific journal?

It can be a daunting prospect for an early career researcher. What’s expected from you as reviewer? What goes into a good review? What do you get out of it? Knowing how to review scientific research will make you write your own research better as you know what reviewers will be looking for.

Join Helle Goldman, who has been the chief editor of Norwegian Polar Institute’s peer-reviewed journal, Polar Research, for 24 years, at a workshop that aims to throw light on these and other questions.

The ECOTIP summer school from June 6th-17th 2022 on the beautiful Åland Islands in the Baltic Sea is open to early-career researchers (i.e., PhD students and postdoctoral scientists) who work on aspects of the Arctic and/or wish to expand and improve their knowledge and skills. 

The Canadian Studies Center in the Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies invites registration for a virtual spring speaker series on Health Equity, Diversity, Inclusion in Arctic Indigenous Communities. Webinars take place on Wednesdays from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. AKDT.

WCRP is calling for (self-)nominations for membership of the World Climate Research Programme's Joint Scientific Committee (JSC), for a four-year term from 1 January 2023 to 31 December 2026.

The call for ESA Living Planet Fellowships for this year is now open. The Living Planet Fellowship 2022 Call is addressed to young post-doctoral scientists that completed their PhD after 01 January 2015 or will complete before 15 June 2022.

Candidates to the Living Planet Fellowship 2022 Call must have a nationality from an ESA Member State.

The European Copernicus Marine Service is organising a training workshop dedicated to the Arctic Ocean, an online event that aims to engage with the marine communities of the Arctic region. All participants have the opportunity to:

• Be informed on the Copernicus Marine Service offer (open-access and free for all ocean data, visualization tool, user support etc.)
• Be trained in using the Copernicus Marine Data, in particular the comprehensive portfolio of Arctic physical, waves and biogeochemical products with Jupyter Notebook and QGIS demos dedicated to the Arctic region.

The International GEOTRACES Summer School: Introducing Polar Parameters will take place from 10th to 15th July 2022 at the Helmholtz-Centre Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research in Bremerhaven, Germany.

It will offer training possibilities for ~50 students, with a combination of lectures and hands-on training in marine geochemistry of trace elements and their isotopes.
