Polar and Alpine Events Calendar
To Friday 04 November 2016
Drs. Mike Steele (University of Washington, Seattle, USA) and Andrey Proshutinsky (Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, Massachusetts, USA) are pleased to announce the annual school and workshop for FAMOS, the Forum for Arctic Modeling and Observational Synthesis, to take place November 1-4 2016 in Woods Hole, Massachusetts, USA.
FAMOS is a forum to encourage collaboration among Arctic Marine Modelers(ocean and sea ice, physical/biogeochemical) and those who wish to collaborate with such scientists (e.g., observationalists, glaciologists, hydrologists, meteorologists, geologists, biologists).
At this time we are soliciting abstracts for talks and posters for the workshop, which will (non-exclusively) focus on small-scale processes, and applications to the school (for which travel support is available, usually for those who have not previously attended). More info is here: http://web.whoi.edu/famos/meeting-5-november-1-4-2016/.
School lectures this year will be given by early career scientists on the following topics:
- sea ice prediction
- ocean mixing
- ocean circulation
- snow/melt ponds/floes
- primary productivity
We look forward to your abstracts and applications! FAMOS is always a time for good talks, good discussions, and good brainstorming sessions for future work. We hope to see you there.
-Mike and Andrey
