The Analytical Section of the Norwegian Chemical Society invites scientists and users of science to this 10th Nordic Conference on Plasma Spectrochemistry. short courses given by international leading specialists in typical Norwegian informal surroundings. We look forward to your attendance at and participation in this scientific event.

Objectives and Main Topics

By contrast to other plasma spectrochemistry meetings, the FREE short courses (2 hours duration) will be offered to all participants during the four day meeting which may be very attractive to participants to learn about and to be updated on plasma spectrochemistry. We are planning to organise 16 short courses, two or three in parallel each day , as part of the conference. This concept is ment to stimulate Nordic users of plasma based techniques to learn more about theoretical and practical issues as well as obtain specialists recommendations for methods improvements. Thus these short courses are also a unique opportunity for laboratory engineers to be updated.

The aim of the conference is to provide a forum to encourage the exchange of ideas and knowledge about recent developments and state-of-the-art knowledge in main areas of plasma spectrochemistry. The conference will bring together international participants experienced in fundamental aspects, instrumentation and applications in typical Norwegian informal settings to examine recent progress in this continuing growing field; approximately 120 participants are expected to attend.

plasma fundamentals and mechanisms
plasma sources for atomization and excitation in atomic spectrometry and ionization in mass spectrometry
plasma source atomic emission and mass spectrometry
laser-assisted plasma spectrometry
plasma source detectors in speciation analysis
sample preparation, sample introduction and transport phenomena
miniaturisation and nanotechnology
hyphenated and imaging techniques

Venue:

The conference venue will be the Hotel Alexandra located in the most beautiful Fjord and Glacier Districts of Norway. The hotel is recognised as one of the best conference venues in Norway. We can guarantee that participants will not quickly forget the extraordinary beauty & hospitality of this region. The participants are expected to arrive at the hotel Saturday, June 6, and to travel home, either Wednesday after lunch or Thursday morning June 11.

We would strongly recommend you to arrange your travel to Loen as soon as possible to obtain cheapest available flights. The most convenient travel is by plane from Oslo Gardermoen airport to Sandane and or Ørsta/Volda Hovden airports operated by Widerøe (WF), local airports with hotel transfer service (60 min drive).Vigra, Ålesund airport is operated by SAS and Norwegian (2h45 min transfer).
