Indian Polar Research Network (IPRN-APECS India) and Wildlife Institute of India- ENVIS centre on Wildlife and Protected Areas, Dehradun are jointly organising a *two-day science communication workshop called the ICECAPS Workshop 2016. *The workshop will be held at Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun on 1st and 2nd December 2016. This workshop aims to teach key communication skills to participants to prepare them for a career in science disciplines. Some key topics to be covered under the workshop include basic skills needed to apply for MSc/PhD courses, resume building, improving presentation skills, writing effective grant applications, planning a research project and learning basic analytical and reporting tools (R program, Latex).
This workshop will also include special sessions on Protected Area management in Polar Regions (Arctic, Antarctica and the Himalayas) with a view to generate awareness about international conventions and protocols.
We are expecting a higher participation of students from organisations/universities in Uttarakhand esp. from Dehradun region. Interested students who are currently doing MSc or are in a PhD program in biological or environmental science disciplines are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to students who are currently working in any of the three above-mentioned Polar Regions.
