Weather and climate models have typically been developed for mid-latitude regions, but different processes are relevant for the Polar regions. A significant improvement in our ability to model the Arctic will only be achieved by improving the representation of processes such as coupling between atmosphere and ocean or the surface energy budget. This webinar will focus on ‘Enhanced weather and climate models’, one of five science work packages of the EU-funded APPLICATE project which brings together a European consortium of scientists from different disciplines to advance our capability to predict the weather and climate in the Arctic and beyond.
