English: Physical Preparation for a better fieldwork experience in nordic environments

Dr Andrée-Anne Parent, University of Québec in Rimouski

2020-06-18

Description in English:

Nordic (and polar) research can be extremely demanding physiologically because of the harsh environment and because of the type of work. Physical preparation can help reduce fatigue associated with muscular and cardiovascular repeated efforts. It can also reduce the extent of the recuperation effect after the expeditions. The webinar addresses the different effects of nordic environments on human physiology and how to prepare and thus improve the fieldwork experience, both in efficiency and in decreasing the hardships during and after the expeditions.
