Working Together with Northern Residents
- Dr. Hall shares his experiences and advice with young polar scientists on making sure to conduct responsible research that benefits the community in which you work.

Presenter: Budd Hall - University of Victoria

Budd Hall is the Director of the Office of Community Based Research. He has been engaged in participatory and community based research since 1973 when he was working in Tanzania. He was the founder of the International Participatory Research Network which began in 1977 and built the field of participatory action research around the world. He has worked with the International Council for Adult Education, the Department of Adult Education and Community Development at the University of Toronto and has also been a Dean of Education at the University of Victoria. He is currently Secretary of Community Based Research Canada as well as the Global Alliance on Community Engaged Research. He is also a poet.

This video is part of the International Polar Year (IPY) Early Career Research Symposium held in Victoria, BC, Canada from 4-8 December 2009. The event was a career development workshop that brought 100 international young Arctic and Antarctic researchers and mentors together for a series of career development training sessions to develop professional skills, work with senior mentors, and develop international and interdisciplinary collaborations.
