The Climate Physics group at ENS de Lyon in France (https://climatephysics-ensl.fr/) invites applications for a 3-year PhD project on subglacial lake hydrodynamics. Funding is provided by the CNRS - University of Melbourne Joint PhD Project entitled "Temperature-induced regime changes in the Earth’s hydrosphere: insights from models of the oceans and subglacial lakes" led by Louis Couston (ENS Lyon) and Catherine Vreugdenhil (University of Melbourne).
The preferred start date is in Fall 2026. The PhD project will consist for the first 2 years in running laboratory experiments and will be based in Lyon, France, while the 3rd year will leverage high-resolution simulations taking into account Earth's rotation and will be based in Melbourne, Australia.
