The University of Gothenburg is looking for a PhD student to study the recent changes in Arctic sea ice from remote sensing data. More specifically, to understand the emergence of “polynyas” or holes in the ice in the last ice area and determine their impact on the Earth System. In plain text: Does it matter that the sea ice is getting holes?

Deadline for the application is 10th May. Interviews will be during the second half of May.

Person must start no later than 1st October. You can apply even if you have not completed your master’s degree, but you must have completed it by the time you start the job.

Location: University of Gothenburg, in southwest Sweden. 

Duration: 4 years, fully funded. Up to 1 year extension if you’re teaching.

Starting salary is set by the unions and non negotiable: 33 500 SEK per month before tax.
