Northumbria University invites applications for two 3-year Post-Doctoral Research Associate in ice-sheet modelling and numerical studies of ice and ocean interactions.

Each position is for 36 months. Research activities are linked to two ongoing EU H2020 large international projects: Projecting Sea-Level Rise: From Ice Sheets to Local Implications (PROTECT) and Ocean-Cryosphere Exchanges in Antarctica: Impacts on Climate and the Earth System (OCEAN:ICE). We invite candidates with interest in applying theoretical and numerical approaches to cutting-edge research questions related to ice-sheets dynamics and their interactions with other climate components.

There is considerable scope for exploring new ideas and concepts to tackle key questions related to topics such as subglacial drainage from the Antarctic Ice Sheet and impacts on ocean, the fracture and rifting of ice shelves, and the interactions between the Antarctic Ice Sheet and the Southern Ocean. 

The successful candidates will join a sizeable group of researchers focusing on ice-sheet modelling and the Future of Ice on Earth, at Northumbria University.
