Who's Who - Polar Acronyms

The V.I. Il'ichev Pacific Oceanological Institute has two marine experimental stations one of them is situated on Popov Island in Peter The Great Bay, and the other one is situated on the Shul'ts Peninsula in the vicinity of Vityaz' Bay on the shore of the Sea of Japan. Scientific cruises in the open Ocean are performed by the employees of the Institute on the research vessels of the Far-Eastern Branch of Russian Academy of Sciences.
