Polar Quest
  • General public
Science North is creating Polar Quest, an IMAX film, that will feature the impacts of climate change on the Arctic and the implications it is having on the Inuit. Regional wildlife, such as polar bears and muskoxen, are also experiencing climate change as sea ice and land conditions continue to change. The film also shows Canadians carrying out world-class science during IPY. Skilled filmmakers have captured breathtaking aerial footage of the Arctic that will stun viewers. This footage will be complemented by interviews featuring IPY scientists like Dr. David Barber of the Circumpolar Flaw Lead project. Upon completion, the IMAX film and supporting educational materials will increase awareness about climate change and IPY research. Polar Quest is a celebration of the North as it exists today, reminding us all of the importance of Canada's polar regions.
