Permafrost courses in Western Taymyr

The field course on Permafrost and Periglacial Geomorphology of Western Taymyr (PPG) was developed as part of the International Permafrost Association (IPA) series of International University Courses on Permafrost (IUCP), as part of its participation to the IPY. The course attracted Russian upper-level undergraduate and graduate students from Lomonosov Moscow State and St.Petersburg State Universities and the Earth Cryosphere Institute (Tyumen).A field course in July-August 2007 on the board the Fedor Nayanov took place along the Western Taymyr coast for 10 students studying the north. The 20-day courses was held on board the ?Sovetskaya Arctika vessel in summer 2008 and 2009, which sailed on the Yenisei River and in the Yeniseyskiy Bay from the town of Krasnoyarsk to the port of Dikson on the Arctic Coast of the Kara Sea, these courses attracted 18 students.
