Polar Outreach Catalogue

The project is designed to communicate IPY research and emphasize the importance of the Arctic to Canadians. Global TV is preparing a series of 8 1-minute vignettes to air across Canada on the Global network and TVA in Quebec. The vignettes are examining various research themes from severe Arctic weather, to the effects of climate change on marine mammals and sea ice. Researchers, community and Aboriginal leaders are interviewed to describe the work that is going on as part of IPY and the role that Northerners, in particular, are playing in this historic event. This Global TV project helps explain some of the polar research underway and its significance to Canadians.
