Harassment in the Field webinar on 23 March

Webinar: Harassment in the Field

The webinar on harassment in the field will be a panel discussion on changes to field logistics in the context of the #MeToo movement and recent allegations of harassment in the McMurdo Dry Valleys focusing on what to do as a member of a field team or a team leader if you witness harassment, helpful best practices to avoid it in the first place, and systemic changes needed within polar science organizations. The panel will be composed of five special guests: 

  • Robin Bell, president of AGU and associate professor at Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory,
  • Dawn Sumner, chair of the department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at UC Davis,
  • Tracy Sheeley, head of field logistics for CPS Polar Services,
  • Lisa Rom, the program director for NSF Division of Ocean Sciences and Education Liaison for the Office of Polar Programs
  • Meredith Nash, Senior Lecturer at the University of Tasmania
