The Polar Early Career World Summit (PECWS) 2025 is collaboratively organized by the Association of Polar Early Career Scientists (APECS), the Polar Science Early Career Community Office (PSECCO), and the Early Career Ocean Professionals Programme (ECOP Programme). The PECWS 2025 Organizing Committee is seeking enthusiastic polar early career scientists to join the PECWS 2025 Planning Team to help plan and steer the summit’s activities.
The summit will be hosted at the University of Boulder in Colorado from March 22-24, 2025. It will run alongside the Fourth International Conference on Arctic Research Planning (ICARP IV) and the Arctic Science Summit Week 2025 (ASSW 2025). The summit aims to bring together early career professionals, community members, and knowledge holders connected to the Arctic, Antarctica, and the wider cryosphere from across the world to:
- provide input into the planning of the Fifth International Polar Year (5th IPY) in 2032-33,
- amplify the voices of polar early career scientists in polar science policy and decision-making processes by integrating their input on research priorities, and
- discuss the past, present and future of polar early career scientists networks and strengthen the networks through in-depth discussions, relationship-building, and developing formats of collaboration.
The PECWS 2025 Planning Team will be composed of individuals from different disciplines, research regions, and locations around the globe. They will work closely with the PECWS 2025 Organizing Committee to shape the content and format of the summit. Each Planning Team member is guaranteed attendance at the summit where participation in the event is free of charge though travel funding is not secured.

Please note that most of the organization of this summit will take place over the months of August 2024 to April 2025, with an important initial planning phase before broad event applications open in early December 2024. Please do not volunteer to be part of the PECWS 2025 Planning Team if you do not have the capacity to dedicate time to it over these months.
