Women on Arctic Fieldwork
Think about the last time you had to pee in the wilderness… how cold did you get? Did you count the bug bites? And what about the folks there with you, how did they feel about it? People of all shapes and sizes are invited to participate in Arctic field work, but the work might not quite fit everyone quite as well, and sometimes that can affect the safety and wellbeing of polar researchers.

The XII Workshop APECS Portugal is finally here and will focus on how polar science and scientists adapted to the restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic: “An Unexpected Journey - Polar Science in a Pandemic crisis”. Through a hybrid format, the event will be completely free and our objective will be to discuss the negative and positive effects of the pandemic on polar science expeditions, data collection, science outputs, networking and education; as well as lessons learned.

The Association of Polar Early Career Scientists (APECS) and the International Arctic Science Committee (IASC) are organizing a webinar for all those interested in applying to the 2022 IASC Fellowship Program. We will be introducing the IASC Fellowship Program, and several of the current and past IASC Fellows as well as working group chairs will be introducing themselves and discuss their work with the IASC Working Groups. The webinar will also provide the opportunity for potential applications to ask questions about the program and the application process.
The IASC Fellowship Webinar will be on 25 October 2021 at 14:00 GMT and you can attend it via this link. We have a capacity limit of 100 participants for the webinar.
