Dr. Borja Aguiar-González holds a Marine Sciences degree and a Ph.D. in Oceanography from the Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC). His research journey includes postdoctoral work at NIOZ Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research, focusing on the South Indian Ocean circulation; and at the University of Delaware, focusing on polar oceanography along the West Antarctic Peninsula.
Returning to ULPGC, Borja became an Associate Professor, teaching Applied Physics and Physical Oceanography. He co-leads research lines focusing on Polar Oceanography and Animal-borne Telemetry + Physical Oceanography. With regards to his training capacity, Borja has co-supervised doctoral theses and initial research projects of undergraduate, graduate, and master's students at Utrecht University, Université de Bretagne Occidentale, University of Cape Town, and ULPGC. Borja actively engages in scientific dissemination, contributing to press articles and media outreach.
