DESCRIPTION:The 15th Polar Low Workshop focuses on polar lows and mesocyclones as well
as mesoscale weather extremes in both hemispheres. This includes e.g. mesos
cale weather phenomena such as katabatic winds, tip jets, boundary layer fr
onts, and cold air outbreaks in polar regions. Contributions of experimenta
l, climatological, theoretical, modeling and remote sensing studies are wel
come. The workshop is organized by the Polar Lows Working Group (PLWG) and
is also part of the activities of the IASC (International Arctic Science Co
mmittee) Atmosphere Working Group. The 15th Polar Low Workshop will be host
ed by the Shirshov Institute of Oceanology in Moscow. \nImportant! \nDue to
the COVID-19 pandemic, the meeting will be conducted in a hybrid format. D
ependent on the feasibility of travel, the in-person part will take place i
n Moscow at the Shirshov Institute of Oceanology. Please indicate in your a
bstract submission if you intend to participate in person or remotely. \nPl
