DESCRIPTION:Organizers announce the launch of the online Arctic Environmental Humanitie
 s (AEH) Workshop, a collaboration between Cambridge University’s Scott Pola
 r Research Institute and Boston University’s Pardee Center for the Study of
  the Longer-Range Future.\nThis international endeavor will bring together 
 scholars, researchers, and artists working across the humanities and humani
 stic social sciences, and those in polar sciences who want to join in conve
 rsations about urgent issues facing the Arctic, as well as on the insights 
 uniquely possible through an Arctic lens. Presentations and conversations w
 ill take place in varied formats, all online and freely accessible. The per
 spectives and participation of northern communities and people will be part
 icularly valuable and encouraged.\nUpcoming Workshops include:\n\n - Profes
 sor Dolly Jørgensen (University of Stavanger, Norway) on 1 September 2020 -
  “The Shaggy Saviour of Northern Norway,” a project about muskox hunting an
 d farming and the larger issue of northern environments and “productivity.”
  Professor Jørgensen’s current research agenda focuses on cultural historie
 s of animal extinction, and she recently published Recovering Lost Species 
 in the Modern Age: Histories of Longing and Belonging (MIT Press, 2019). Sh
 e has also edited several books, including Northscapes: History, Technology
 , &amp; the Making of Northern Environments (2014) and Visions of North in 
 Premodern Europe(2018). Professor Jørgensen is the editor of Environmental 
 Humanities and the co-founder of The Greenhouse environmental humanities re
