SUMMARY:WAIS Workshop 2020
DESCRIPTION:We are please to announce that registration and abstract submission for our
  WAIS Workshop 2020 Virtual Science Sessions is now open. Sessions will tak
 e place during the weeks of September 21 and September 28. Multiple distrib
 uted, virtual science sessions will take place via Zoom during the weeks of
  September 21 and September 28. Each week, participants will be organized i
 nto groups of &lt;15 participants, with up to 10 speakers who each give an 
 8 minute talk. Talks will be followed by a WAIS-style 20 minute discussion 
 moderated by a session convener. The goal is that most participants will at
 tend and present in two ~100-minute sessions scheduled at the convenience o
 f the session participants during the designated week. All sessions will be
  recorded and posted on YouTube for future community consumption.\n \n Plea
 se register and submit your abstract by August 28 via our Google Form (http
 s://forms.gle/gbzku22mNaUybuSQ6). Topics for virtual session include,\n - S
 now/firn/surface-mass balance\n - Grounding zones and ice shelves\n - Past 
 records of changes and processes\n - Oceanography and marine biology\n - Sc
 ience communication and outreach\n - Subglacial environments, processes, an
 d lifeforms\n - Leading edge (new technology, modern methods, and data scie
 nce)Abstracts will be reviewed by WAIS Workshop organizers and session conv
 eners. Decisions and session placement will be announced by September 7 and
  session scheduled finalized by September 14. Diversity, equity, and inclus
