DESCRIPTION:The Changing Arctic is a series of Nordic-French seminars addressing key Ar
 ctic issues in the field of research, and taking place during 2016 in Denma
 rk, Finland, Norway and Sweden.\nThe French Institute of Norway and the Fre
 nch Embassy, together with the FRAM High North Research Centre on Climate a
 nd the Environment and the University of Tromsø - the Arctic University of 
 Norway, are pleased to invite you to the workshop “Environment and Governan
 ce”\nThe Arctic region is undergoing rapid transformations due to global wa
 rming. Its natural resources attract various kinds of industries, from fish
 eries to renewable energy; while indigenous communities are facing socio-ec
 onomical changes. Protecting local cultures and preserving arctic ecosystem
 s requires a deep understanding of the impact of human activities as well a
 s an efficient governance across the whole region. Therefore, research issu
 es concerning adaptation to climate change and resources management will be
  discussed, with a particular focus on the indigenous participation in the 
 construction of a\nsustainable Arctic, through their traditional knowledge 
 and their political role.\nParticipants have the possibility to present the
 ir research with a poster or a short presentation.\nThe participation is fr
 ee, but registration is mandatory. The seminar will take place in the Fram 
 Centre from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.\nA public conference will take place aft
 er the seminar: « Governance and traditional ecological knowledge in the Ar
 ctic : towards adaptation to a global change », presented by Marie Roué (Na
