The X Workshop APECS Portugal will focus on the value of early caree
r scientists for science, in a research team and within scientific networks
and vice-versa - a Scientist is Born. We aim to understand how early caree
r scientists can progress within research teams from the perspective of exp
erienced researchers; what is the role of early career in the development o
f international networks such as APECS, as well as the advantages of integr
ating these networks; and how can involvement in educational activities and
outreach can be beneficial both for the scientist developing a career and
for education. The experience and knowledge of senior researchers along wit
h these kinds of collaborations are of utmost importance as feedback for yo
ung researchers and students that may follow a research career path.
