The next IASC Workshop on the Dynamics and Mass Budget of A rctic Glaciers and Network on Arctic Glaciology annual meetin g will take place at the University Center Obergurgl, in Obergurgl, Austria , 28-30 January 2020.

In addition to sessions on glacier dynamics and mass balance, the workshop will host a cross-cutting activity by the Cryosphere and Marine Working Groups of IASC on “G lacier-ocean interactions and their impact on Arctic marine ecosystems”. This activity aims to provide an inter-disciplinary forum by br inging together glaciologists, marine ecologists and oceanographers interes ted in glacier-ocean interactions.

Organizers also welcome contributi ons on all aspects concerning the mass balance and dynamics of Arctic glaci ers and ice caps, including the Greenland Ice Sheet, and that utilize a bro ad range of methods, including field observations, remote sensing, and mode lling. Organizers especially encourage submission to our cross-cutting acti vity.

Contributions in the form of oral presentations and/or posters are welcome. Presentation will be 15-20 minutes, including discussion. For those who bring a poster, time will be reserved in the program to give a sh ort 2-3 minute introduction to the poster. We plan for two and a half days of talks and poster presentations, as well as open-forum discussions.

Participants can register and submit abstracts (maximum length 300 words) by filling the online form. Indicate whether you prefer an oral or poster presentation and if your presentation is a co ntribution to the cross-cutting activity.

Organizers have received fu nding from the IASC Cryosphere and Marine working groups to enable early career scientists to participate in the meeting and cross-cu tting activity, in particular. Funds will be distributed through the Associ ation of Polar Early Career Scientists (APECS).

Eligible for the funding will be early career scientist who me et the following criteria:

Are within five years of fin ishing their PhD;
Are affiliated with an institution in an IASC mem ber country (Austria, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Fran ce, Germany, Iceland, India, Italy, Japan, The Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and U.S.);
Have registered and submitted an abstract for the works hop;
Have a research background relevant to the meeting; and

Have not received IASC travel support in the last 18 months prior to Janu ary 2019.
