The U.S. Ice Drilling Program invites community input for their 2019 Lon g Range Science Plan.
Each year in the spring the IDP works with its Science Advisory Board and with the research community to update the Long R ange Science Plan. This Plan identifies the science in the coming decade th at will require the use of ice drilling technology and expertise for the co mmunity, and drives the formation of other plans, such as the Long Range Dr illing Technology Plan. The plans provide the basis for multi-annual planni ng for the actions and drill development projects of the IDP and others, an d give the funding agencies advance notice of upcoming community science ne eds.
Researchers that will need an ice core or a hole drilled in a gl acier or ice sheet, or a rock core from under shallow glacial ice, in the c oming decade, should ensure that their science is captured in the current d raft update of the U.S. Ice Drilling Program Office Long Range Science Plan .
