SUMMARY:Bridging Science, Art, and Community in the New Arctic Workshop
LOCATION:Charlottesville\, Virginia\, USA
DESCRIPTION:The Bridging Science, Art, and Community in the New Arctic workshop will co
nsist of a one-day symposium featuring disciplinary research presentations
by various practitioners, including environmental scientists, musicians, ar
chitects, and anthropologists, followed by a three-day working meeting for
interdisciplinary discussions among researchers, Alaskan youth, and univers
ity students. There will also be musical performances and art exhibitions.\
nThe workshop will be organized around a core scientific question that focu
ses on a very specific, and human-relevant, spatial scale of the Arctic lan
dscape. That question is: how does the changing Arctic landscape affect the
natural, built, and cultural environments of the Arctic system?\nThe propo
sed question and the unique methods of inquiry will lead to a workshop outc
ome of action items for moving forward a new agenda of highly interdiscipli
nary means for research, education, and outreach.\nFor more information and
