DESCRIPTION:<p>The thematic focus of the&nbsp;<a href="https://en.assw2019.science/">21
 st Arctic Science Summit Week</a>, established by the International Arctic 
 Science Committee (IASC), is "Climate&nbsp;Change and Development of the Ar
 ctic Population." The main venues for the event are the Northern Arctic Fed
 eral University and the Northern State Medical University.<br /><br />About
  400 Russian and foreign scientists are expected to arrive in Arkhangelsk. 
 For the first time, the city will receive such a considerable delegation of
  scientists from more than 23 countries conducting systematic research in t
 he Arctic. Dozens of roundtables and discussions will take place, hundreds 
 of reports and presentations will be delivered. Scientific sessions on 22 t
 opical issues, closely interrelated with the thematic focus of the Week, wi
 ll be held.<br /><br />Hosting ASSW in Russia provides an opportunity to sh
 ow the enormous potential of the country in researching, developing, and pr
 eserving the natural potential of the Arctic to the international scientifi
 c community. The topic of this scientific week is especially important for 
 Russia, since the most Indigenous people, localities, and industrial center
 s in the Arctic are concentrated in its northern territories.<br />Schedule
  of the Arctic Science Week:</p><ul><li>May 22-23 - Meetings and sessions o
 f IASC &amp; partners</li><li>May 24-25 - Days of Science: speakers' lectur
 es, sessions, and poster presentations</li><li>May 26 - Day of partners’ me
 etings, sessions, poster presentations</li><li>May 27 - Business Day (prese
 ntations, sessions, the IASC medal award)</li><li>May 28 - Indigenous Day a
 nd Science Day (sessions and poster presentations)</li></ul><p><br />Among 
 the main speakers are members of the Russian Academy of Sciences, represent
 ing various fields of science, well-known foreign researchers from the lead
 ing scientific centers of the Arctic and non-Arctic states, heads of the la
 rgest national companies of Russia, pursuing industrial and infrastructure 
 development of the macroregion: Gazprom, Alrosa, Atomflot, USC of Russia, a
 nd representatives of the Arctic territories.<br /><br />The summit will in
 clude the ceremony of the IASC medal - one of the most prestigious awards f
 or Arctic research. The award is presented by the President of the IASC and
  is accompanied by a lecture by the laureate.<br /><br />Participation in t
 he Arctic Science Summit Week in Arkhangelsk will also provide early career
  scientists with exceptional opportunities to get new information and knowl
 edge about the Arctic and get directly acquainted with the latest achieveme
 nts in the research of the Arctic.<br /><br />The deadline for application
