DESCRIPTION:<p>Organizers invite applications for a Community Earth System Model (CESM)
  Polar Modeling Workshop for early career scientists.&nbsp;</p><p>The works
 hop is supported by the National Science Foundation and will include around
  20 early career polar scientists. Early career scientists include graduate
  students, postdoctoral researchers, and those within seven years of receiv
 ing a PhD.</p><p>Workshop participants will gain hands-on experience planni
 ng, designing, executing, and analyzing earth system modeling experiments t
 o understand changing polar climates and explore better methods to integrat
 e models and observations. Participants will engage in advanced activities 
 focused specifically on capacity building for using CESM in polar research 
 (e.g., sea ice, land ice, atmosphere, ocean, land, paleoclimate).</p><p>The
  workshop will follow directly from the Annual CESM Tutorial, held 5-9 Augu
 st 2019. Prospective participants who have not attended the CESM Tutorial s
 hould apply for both the CESM Tutorial and the CESM Polar Modeling Workshop
 . Prospective participants who have previously attended the CESM Tutorial (
 or have equivalent experience) should apply for just the CESM Polar Modelin
 g Workshop.</p>
