Organizers invite session abstracts for the Association for the Sciences of Limnology and Oceanography (ASLO) 2019 Aquatic Sciences Meeting. This m eeting will convene 23 February – 2 March 2019 in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
ASLO is offering two sessions that will highlight Arctic research. Thes e sessions include SS16: Changing Biogeochemistry and Ecology across Arctic Aquatic Systems in the 21st Century and CS36: Arctic Ecosystems.
Ses sion SS16: Changing Biogeochemistry and Ecology across Arctic Aquatic Syste ms in the 21st Century, will emphasize changes in the biogeochemistry and e cology of Arctic waters. Potential topic areas for this session may include nutrient, carbon, and toxin dynamics, including the release, transport, an d transformation of biogeochemical constituents across the Arctic aquatic c ontinuum, changing food web dynamics, and ecosystem function, as well as ch anging physical processes related to altered temperature and ice cover regi mes. Studies across gradients and land-water interfaces are encouraged. Rev iews, secondary analyses, and meta-analyses taking a comparative approach a cross Arctic systems are also welcome.
Session CS36: Arctic Ecosystem s will provide a platform for sharing results from a wider range of physica l, chemical, and biological studies of aquatic systems at high northern lat itudes.
These sessions are being jointly organized and chaired to cre ate a diverse lineup of presentations from the Arctic research community, a nd will form the seed of a 2021 special Arctic-oriented issue in Limnology & Oceanography.
