DESCRIPTION:<p>The Association of Polar Early Career Scientists (APECS) and the Univers
 ity of the Arctic are jointly organising a science communication workshop i
 n connection with the UArctic Congress 2018 in Oulu, Finland. The main work
 shop day will be on 3 September 2018 but participants will be expected to w
 ork on tasks throughout the duration of the congress.</p><p>The workshop wi
 ll focus on three topics:</p><ul><li>Storytelling as a tool for science com
 munication</li><li>Using social media for science communication</li><li>Com
 municating science to policy makers and the public</li><li>Communicating wi
 th the Media</li></ul><p>The workshop will include both introductory lectur
 es and also hands-on practical parts. In addition to the workshop day, the 
 participants will receive a task to use the skills gained during the worksh
 op during the UArctic Congress (incl. conducting interviews). More informat
 ion will be communicated to successful applicants before the workshop. The 
 results of the workshop and message from Oulu will be communicated at the H
 elsinki welcoming reception on Thursday evening (Sep 6th).</p>
