DESCRIPTION:January is close and with it the Arctic Frontiers conference in Tromsø, Nor
 way, between January 20 and 24! During the Arctic Frontiers conference, you
  are invited to exciting events where you can present your ideas and resear
 ch results during the poster session. There, the best presenters compete fo
 r the traditional APECS poster awards. The poster sessions will take place 
 on Tuesday and Wednesday at the Clarion Hotel The Edge.\nWe also invite you
  to a panel debate on scientific publishing. During the Arctic Frontiers co
 nference, the Association of Polar Early Career Scientists (APECS) traditio
 nally organizes a panel discussion that aims at a key aspect of career deve
 lopment.\nPublishing the outcome of our research work is among the most pow
 erful tools to share with the world what we have learned, publications emer
 ge from or build on theses, and they measure our success in science. Thus, 
 navigating the publication jungle is an important, exciting and challenging
  task for early career scientists. How to choose a journal that fits the st
 udy, judge its quality, open access publications, and how scientific produc
 tivity and impact are measured through publications are possible questions 
 to be discussed.\nTherefore, the Arctic Frontiers organizing committee of A
 PECS chose to move publications in the focus of this year`s panel. The pane
 l debate is scheduled for Tuesday, January 22, kl. 18:30-19:30 at Fram Cent
 re. We have invited 4 panelists with diverse backgrounds to include a varie
 ty of different angles, to trigger discussions and to exchange experiences.
  The panel will be open to all interested early career scientists. Please b
 ring your own non-alcoholic (!) beverages and snacks or dinner to-go!\nMore
