SUMMARY:APECS events during Arctic Frontiers 2019
LOCATION:Tromsø\, Norway
DESCRIPTION:
January is close and with it the Arctic Frontiers conference in Tromsø,
Norway, between January 20 and 24! During the Arctic Frontiers conference,
you are invited to exciting events where you can present your ideas and res
earch results during the poster session. There, the best presenters
compete for the traditional APECS poster awards. The poster sessi
ons will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday at the Clarion Hotel The Edge.

We also invite you to a panel debate on scientific publishin
g. During the Arctic Frontiers conference, the Association of Pola
r Early Career Scientists (APECS) traditionally organizes a panel discussio
n that aims at a key aspect of career development.

Publishing the out
come of our research work is among the most powerful tools to share with th
e world what we have learned, publications emerge from or build on theses,
and they measure our success in science. Thus, navigating the publication j
ungle is an important, exciting and challenging task for early career scien
tists. How to choose a journal that fits the study, judge its quality, open
access publications, and how scientific productivity and impact are measur
ed through publications are possible questions to be discussed.

There
fore, the Arctic Frontiers organizing committee of APECS chose to move publ
ications in the focus of this year`s panel. The panel debate is scheduled f
or Tuesday, January 22, kl. 18:30-19:30 at Fram Centre. We have invited 4 p
anelists with diverse backgrounds to include a variety of different angles,
to trigger discussions and to exchange experiences. The panel will be open
to all interested early career scientists. Please bring your own non-alcoh
olic (!) beverages and snacks or dinner to-go!

More information on lo
cations can be found in the Arctic Frontiers conference program.
