 Geophysics Group (NSGG) invites submissions from postgraduate students for 
 our 2018 Postgraduate Research Symposium. The event is hosted in the School
  of Earth and Environment at the University of Leeds, by the School’s Insti
 tute of Applied Geosciences.\nThe NSGG is a special interest group of The G
 eological Society, with a remit of advancing, encouraging and supporting th
 e study and practice of near-surface geophysics throughout the industrial a
 nd academic sectors. Our postgraduate symposia offer students of near-surfa
 ce geophysics the opportunity to present their research to their peer group
 , plus a network of academic and industrial practitioners, in a relaxed and
  supportive environment.\nWe solicit abstracts from postgraduate students w
 orking in any aspect of near-surface geophysics, including environmental in
 vestigations, engineering, archaeology, forensic science, mineral explorati
 on and geological processes. To mark the Geological Society’s “Year of Reso
 urces”, we will hold a special session featuring near-surface geophysical m
 ethods as applied to the characterisation of subsurface resources (e.g., en
 ergy, minerals, water) and their sustainable development (e.g., waste dispo
 sal, time-lapse monitoring).\nThe deadline for the submission of a 500-word
  abstract, plus 1 optional figure, is 17:00 on Friday 1st June 2018. Abstra
