DESCRIPTION:<p style="text-align: justify;">As you register to attend the POLAR 18 conf
 erence organised by SCAR in Davos this June, please consider signing up to 
 attend the <strong>SERCE ('Solid Earth Response and influence on Cryospheri
 c Evolution') side meeting</strong>, which will take place immediately <spa
 n style="text-decoration: underline;">prior</span> to the main conference.<
 /p><p style="text-align: justify;">The role of SERCE is to facilitate resea
 rch on interactions between the solid Earth and the cryosphere (<a href="ht
 tps://www.scar.org/science/serce/serce/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">htt
 ps://www.scar.org/science/serce/serce/</a>). Our side meeting is open to al
 l and will be relevant to anyone interested in the solid Earth (if you're a
 ttending POLAR 18 then we assume you are also interested in the cryosphere.
 ..).</p><p style="text-align: justify;">During the meeting we will report o
 n recent activities supported by SERCE (including a report from the Antarct
 ic Heat Flux that is taking place this week), outline and discuss plans for
  future SERCE-supported activities, update on recent research that addresse
 s the scientific aims of SERCE, and invite discussion of plans for the futu
 re direction of SCAR's Scientific Research Programs (of which SERCE is curr
 ently one, others listed here: <a href="https://www.scar.org/science/srp/" 
 target="_blank" rel="noopener">https://www.scar.org/science/srp/</a>).</p><
